The Tlaquepaque area of Mexico produces some of the country's best pottery, and Gallery Michael houses an extensive collection of pieces of all sizes. From wall hangings to lamps, each creation can add color and pizzazz to any room. The gallery also offers a nice selection of religious representations and dinnerware.

Maya

Built to resemble a Mayan temple, Maya is an excellent choice for bringing home a unique Mexican souvenir. The shopping center boasts many small boutiques that offer everything from art to replica Mayan death masks crafted from onyx or turquoise. Shoppers will also find that Maya offers a great selection of leather, jewelry, and other handmade wares.

Mazatlan Arts and Crafts Center

This wonderful collection of arts and crafts boutiques is located just off of Calle Gaviotas and Loaiza, and no shopper will be able to resist as least one purchase as a piece of Mazatlán memorabilia. Some shops put local artisans on display so you can watch them weave their magic, and the area also offers a folkloric ballet show on some days.

Mercado Central

Mercado Central is Mazatlán's daily downtown market, and tourists as well as locals enjoy the colorful, bustling array of hawkers and shops. The market offers visitors the best chance to find a deal on vibrant clothes and handcrafted goods such as leather, sandals, and rugs. There's also a good selection of pottery as well as vendors selling fresh seafood, but be prepared for a crowd.

Pardo Jewelers

Founded in 1975, Pardo Jewelers has gained international renown as a gold, silver, and fine gem store. Jewelry shoppers will enjoy browsing through the precious metal creations that helped build the store's name, but what every patron wants to see is the Mexican Fire Opal, so named because of its natural swirls of color. If you want something a little more traditional but still unique, then other gems like emeralds, aquamarine, and sapphires are sure to please as well.

The name says it all—this store is a veritable "Sea Shell City." A luxuriant fountain decorated with a myriad of shells greets visitors when the first enter, but they've only seen the tip of the iceberg. Every possible seashell creation resides inside, from plates and wind chimes to picture frames and jewelry. If nothing else, this store definitely provides a good selection of affordable novel gifts to bring the boss back home.
